MY STORY:

I am a 21 year old full time athlete training at the Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs, USA. who competes at the junior level for the United States in the sport of Modern Pentathlon. And, a university student who has overcome dyslexia. I am a US National Champion and was the Junior Champion in 2008 & 2009 and the Youth A Champion in 2007.

Like many amateur athletes, my challenge is to balance training with my studies and to find the funds to pay for my training, equipment and travelling to competitions.

THREE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
(200 METER SWIM - RIDE - FENCE)

Most pentathletes started out as runners or swimmers, or as members of a pony club. I started out as a swimmer and have taken up riding and fencing relatively late at age 15. I have become a good rider but fencing is an event I am striving to meet the challenge of my more experienced competitors.

TWO COMBINED EVENTS
(3000 METER RUN - SHOOT)

Originally five separate events, the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) voted in 2008 to combine the running and shooting elements to produce an event similar to the biathlon, in which an athlete alternates between skiing a set course and shooting at fixed targets. The new rules took effect in January 2009 and London 2012 will be the first Olympic Games to incorporate the new format.
